The Turkey Pro Sez: "When
I first saw a Roscoby
Riser Cam, I knew it
was the answer that many hunters were looking for...SIMPLICITY
in a high-quality digital video camera system, designed specifically for
hunters.
Everybody
wants to capture their hunts on video and show it to their friends and
family without the need of a cameraman, an assistant, or friend. It's very difficult to record good video with a
modern digital video camera by yourself. The camera needs to be
monitored, focused, zoomed in and out, aimed, and adjusted while you are
trying to position yourself for the shot in a tree stand or moving around
in a blind. I've done it successfully, but it takes lots of practice
and you'll have many times when the video is good, but the game gets away,
and vice versa. Seldom can one operate a camera, capture good video,
and also bag your quarry with the camera perfectly capturing the footage you
want.
But now, with
a Roscoby Riser Cam,
your troubles are over. You
can capture top-notch video and stay focused on making the
right shot at the right time.
The camera always stays aimed at the target, as long as you have your bow
or gun pointed at the target, which you will naturally be doing
anyway. You
can produce clear, sharp digital video and audio by yourself.
An added benefit is you never have to disclose your secret hunting spots
to anyone, and you can still show them your prowess as a hunter!
The Roscoby
Riser Cam is simple to operate
for anyone...novice or experienced alike. I was amazed at how
quickly I was able to swing into action. Just read a short briefing
about the product in the user's manual, load two AA batteries, insert a 4
GB SD memory card for over three hours of recording time, attach the
camera to your bow or shotgun, and you are ready to record.
Turn it
on with a push of a button, aim it at what you want to capture....it's
that simple and foolproof. There is no focusing to do,
and you don't have to watch a viewfinder to see what is being
captured. However, you do need to have it pointed at what you
want to film! I do recommend that you experiment with aiming and
shooting video before important hunts, to give you confidence that you are
capturing what you want. Practice holding your bow steady, aiming,
and recording with the camera. Attached to a shotgun, you just aim
the gun at what you want to record.
Turning
it on and off is a breeze...just push a button, and it's either on, off,
recording, or in standby mode....couldn't be easier.
I
like the fact that the camera can be mounted on a bow, on a
shotgun, or on a normal tripod. You can also put it on a level
surface for recording video. This gives the hunter lots of
flexibility to use the camera in any way you want.
The company recommends using
only SanDisk brand SD memory cards. I concur, as I have never had a
failure with this brand of card. Also, only use Energizer e2 Lithium
batteries, because they will hold up longer in the field than other
brands.
When you are done recording,
you can view the video on a television by hooking the camera to the
television with the standard RCA cables that come with the unit. To
keep the video for posterity, or for editing it with video editing
software, you will need to transfer the footage to your PC via the USB
cable that comes with the unit. Personally, I prefer to purchase an
inexpensive SanDisk 4-n-1 Card Reader and simply insert the SD memory card
in it for the fastest transfer to a PC. A simple "cut and
paste" or "copy and paste" will quickly transfer your video
to your hard drive, then erase the SD card and put it back in the camera.
This is
a great camera system and I predict that you will be very happy
with its ease of use, quality, and flexibility. Make
a decision today to capture your memories with a Roscoby Riser Cam. It meets my
high standards for functionality, quality, features, and effectiveness."
